“The Art of the Manifesto”

For a university project I was asked to devise and produce my own manifesto in relation to my work. I should begin by researching contemporary design manifesti and record observations and thoughts in a reflective journal.

Through a series of critiques I was able to negotiate and reflect on what elements of design practice or thinking are important. I listed the elements which are important enough to warrant inclusion in my agenda.

Finaly I would have to develop a visual response to my manifesto; this could take on the form of a typographic piece or could just as easily be a short film, animation, illustration etc. however it is essential that the method of presentation is fitting and indeed adds to the concept.

My manifest revolved around anti-branding and against clothing labels who use us as walking advertisements. Over the course of working on the manifesto I found that I felt more strongly about it than I have done before, and that is how this website came alive. This website has been set up to display my feelings on the subject and share my thoughts with the world. I am sure there are many people who feel the same way that I do about this and anyone who follows these views too can help by spreading the word of anti-branding to show brands that we are not conformists, but are creative individuls destined to be different.
